Telangana ganja peddlers switch to mobile sales to evade police

Small-time ganja peddlers in Telangana are adopting a highly mobile strategy to evade law enforcement, according to Telangana Today. Peddlers now carry small quantities on scooters or in handbags, stay at a location for only 15, 20 minutes, and use social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook to contact customers before moving on.

The shift comes as police intensify action against major smugglers, disrupting traditional wholesale networks. Some peddlers wrap up operations within two to three hours and frequently change phone numbers and meeting points. Women and young girls sometimes accompany peddlers to avoid suspicion.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) arrested five men on August 17 and seized 6 kg of ganja worth Rs 3 lakh, Siasat.com reports. The drugs were concealed in an auto-rickshaw's speaker box. The accused allegedly sourced the ganja from Nagpur. Investigations are ongoing.
