Telangana sets November deadline for solar power systems in all market yards

Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has ordered officials to complete installation of solar power systems in all market yards and godowns by November, ahead of the Kharif marketing season starting in October. The directive came during a review meeting on Saturday where the Minister also pushed for complete automation of all 206 market committees, including digital integration of CCTV cameras, electronic weighing scales, and vehicle entry-exit systems using the Transport department's number plate scanning technology.

Tenders must be finalised by August end and work taken up in September. Separately, the Minister has written to Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister J.P. Nadda seeking 50,000 tonnes of DAP fertiliser for each of August and September, noting the state received only 1.55 lakh tonnes against an allocation of 2.2 lakh tonnes from April to July. Oilpalm farmers from eight districts have also petitioned the Minister for procurement centres in every mandal.
