Antara Banerjee arrested after razor attack on RPF, self on train

Model-actress Antara Banerjee was arrested after she allegedly attacked Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel with a razor blade aboard the Aravali Express on the night of August 12. She was later released on bail after being served a notice.

According to the Times of India, the dispute began when a passenger asked Banerjee, who was travelling to Surat for a web series shoot, to vacate a reserved seat. She had a sleeper-class ticket but was in an AC coach. Banerjee allegedly used abusive language, then undressed and brandished a blade, injuring RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Yaminikant Mishra and herself. She was deboarded at Dahanu and handed to the Government Railway Police (GRP). The Borivali GRP registered an FIR on August 13 under charges including endangering safety and assault on public servants.

Banerjee, a trained Kathak dancer from Kolkata, has appeared in television shows such as 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay' and 'Badho Bahu'. The Free Press Journal reports she was last seen in the 2025 show 'The Last Show'. GRP Inspector Kunda Gavade said witnesses indicated Banerjee seemed distressed over not getting an AC coach ticket. She refused to contact relatives and insisted on being arrested. The episode left passengers shaken but she calmed down after the FIR was registered.
