Thane model arrested for razor attack on train staff over seat

A 31-year-old model and actor from Thane, Antara Banerjee, was arrested after she allegedly attacked a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and a ticket checker with a razor blade on the Bandra-Ganganagar Aravali Express on the night of August 12. The Times of India reports the incident began when a passenger asked Banerjee, who was occupying a reserved seat, to move. When she refused, the passenger called the RPF and the ticket collector, and Banerjee allegedly responded with verbal abuse and aggression.

According to the RPF complaint, Banerjee undressed herself, brandished a blade, and caused injuries to RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Yamini Kant Mishra and herself. She also damaged her uniform and mobile device and broke her spectacles during the scuffle. Borivli Government Railway Police (GRP) Inspector Kunda Gavade said witnesses stated Banerjee seemed depressed because she could not get a ticket for the AC coach and had entered with a sleeper class ticket. The episode lasted over an hour, with Banerjee breaking a glass window to try to escape.

She was deboarded at Dahanu railway station and handed over to the GRP. Banerjee was arrested on charges including endangering safety, causing grievous harm to public servants, assault, and intentional insult, but was released on bail. The FIR was filed on August 13. Police said Banerjee did not respond to calls and had given an incorrect phone number.
