The End of Oak Street earns Rs 3,952 crore globally

The End of Oak Street, a sci-fi thriller directed by David Robert Mitchell, collected Rs 3,952 crore (USD 47 million) in its worldwide opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. The film starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor earned Rs 1,764 crore (USD 21 million) in North America, ranking third at the domestic box office, and Rs 2,184 crore (USD 26 million) internationally, with the UK leading at Rs 244 crore (USD 2.9 million).

Koimoi reports the film's production budget was Rs 7,140 crore (USD 85 million), excluding marketing costs. It needs to earn about Rs 3,192 crore (USD 38 million) to recover that budget, but must reach Rs 17,808 crore (USD 212 million) under the 2.5x multiplier rule to break even. The film opened on August 14 against blockbusters The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which may affect its run.

After a slow start in India on day one, the film bounced back on day two, reports NDTV Profit. The story follows the Platt family after a cosmic event transports their neighbourhood to an unknown place. Whether the film can sustain its momentum and reach profitability remains to be seen.
