Tibetan Youth Congress protests China’s ethnic unity law in Mangaluru

Members of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) marched from the Mangaluru City Corporation office to Rajaji Park on Sunday, protesting Chinese President Xi Jinping and Beijing's Ethnic Unity Law. The demonstration was held in memory of Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen, who self-immolated outside the UN headquarters in New York on July 2.

The protesters carried placards and shouted 'Free Tibet' slogans, announcing the regional launch of a worldwide campaign involving hunger strikes, rallies, and diplomatic outreach. Tenzin Ninjaymay, former TYC president for Mangaluru, said the protest targeted Xi Jinping and the law, which he said threatens Tibetan culture, tradition, and ethnicity.

Former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik attended as chief guest and expressed strong solidarity with the protesters. The campaign is set to continue with further actions globally.
