Two held for extorting car owners over pending EMI dues

Two men were arrested for threatening and extorting money from car owners by posing as recovery agents for pending vehicle EMIs. Police said Sorav and Sundar Baisla, both from Baghpat, used an app to identify vehicles with overdue instalments, then intercepted owners on the road and coerced them into making payments. Three FIRs have been registered so far.

In one case, a delivery executive was stopped near Hassanpur Depot and forced to pay Rs 15,000 via mobile transaction. In another, a manager was intercepted on NH-24 and extorted Rs 60,000 after being threatened with weapons. Police have arrested six people in total. DCP (East) Rajeev Kumar said background checks are underway and the investigation continues.
