Uttar Pradesh deploys tech and app for Kanwar Yatra facilities

The Uttar Pradesh government has made the Kanwar Yatra high-tech with a mobile app offering route maps, toilets, medical facilities and food services. The Kanwar Yatra App, integrated with Facebook, Instagram and X, provides real-time updates. Baghpat District Magistrate Asmita Lal said over 25,000 devotees in the district have used the app. Special bike ambulances with women doctors, wheelchairs and e-rickshaws have been deployed. Control rooms in Ghaziabad are monitoring routes round the clock, and municipal commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik has been conducting surprise inspections.

However, the pilgrimage, which began on July 30 and concludes on August 11, has caused heavy traffic restrictions in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The Delhi-Meerut Expressway is closed for general traffic on August 10-11. Delhi Traffic Police warned of congestion at Kalindi Kunj junction and advised using NH-9 and NH-44. Gurugram police asked heavy vehicles to take Dwarka and KMP expressways. The restrictions apply till August 12.
