Uttam Kumar Reddy announces Devadula Phase VI by Dec 2028

Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said Devadula Phase-VI of the lift irrigation scheme will be completed by December 2028, bringing Godavari water to the Tungaturthi constituency in Suryapet district. He spoke after hoisting the national flag on Independence Day in Suryapet.

The government has prioritised finishing the remaining components of the project to turn past investments into assured irrigation. Reddy said Phase-VI will help stabilise and expand irrigation in areas dependent on rainfall. He also highlighted three major irrigation projects costing Rs 2,392 crore that aim to cover nearly 77,000 acres.

Drinking water will be the first priority given current rainfall and reservoir levels, the minister added. The government has sanctioned Rs 396 crore for modernising the Nagarjunasagar Left Canal and Rs 70 crore for the Musi canal network. Land acquisition for the new projects is being expedited.
