Vishal backs Udhayanidhi Stalin’s detention, wants law for all

Tamil actor Vishal on Saturday backed the police detention of Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin over an alleged double-meaning remark about actor Trisha Krishnan, saying he wishes everyone who speaks ill of women in the film industry gets the same treatment. Vishal told ANI he wanted similar action against YouTube creators and social media users who troll female actors.

Udhayanidhi was detained at Sengipatti Police Station earlier this month after the women's wing of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) lodged a complaint. He was released after an hour of questioning. The DMK says his words were misrepresented and aimed at the government, not Trisha. Trisha has stayed silent.
