Yash chose evil Ravana over good in Ramayana, says role needed

Actor Yash, last seen in 2018's KGF: Chapter 1, will return to cinemas in two ambitious projects: Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups, out August 26, 2026, and Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, opening November 8, 2026. In the two-part epic, he plays Ravana opposite Ranbir Kapoor's Lord Rama. Appearing on Rajat Sharma's Aap Ki Adalat, Yash explained his choice, saying, "To show the goodness of Ram, Ravana's evil is also needed, sir." He added, "No one can portray it better than me, sir," Odishatv.in reports.

Yash reflected on his early struggles during the interview. He recalled losing seven film opportunities as a television actor after demanding to read scripts before signing. "Doesn't matter, sir," he said. From serving tea for Rs 50 a day in theatre, Telugu360.com notes, he has become a pan-India star. Reports peg his remuneration at Rs 150 crore for Toxic and up to Rs 150 crore for Ramayana, though these figures are unconfirmed, according to Odishatv.in. Yash also co-produces both projects.
