Yuvraj Singh joins Delhi Capitals as batting coach
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been appointed assistant and batting coach of Delhi Capitals ahead of the upcoming IPL season, marking his first formal coaching role. The 44-year-old will reunite with head coach Sourav Ganguly as the franchise looks to win its maiden title.
Yuvraj, a key figure in India's 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup wins, has spent recent years mentoring players such as Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. He previously played for the franchise in 2015 after being signed for a record Rs 16 crore.
The appointment was announced on Tuesday (13 October 2026). Yuvraj said he was excited to begin a new chapter with the Capitals and to team up with Ganguly. Delhi Capitals have not won an IPL title despite reaching the final in 2020.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Both indiatoday.in and The Times of India covered the appointment as straight news, leading with the same facts: Yuvraj Singh joining Delhi Capitals as assistant and batting coach, his first formal coaching role, and his reunion with Sourav Ganguly. The coverage is uniform. Neither outlet added commentary or criticism, and both used identical quotes from Yuvraj and the franchise. The stories diverge only in that The Times of India noted it had reported the development earlier in June, while indiatoday.in highlighted Yuvraj's previous mentoring work with Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. The franchise, which has not won an IPL title despite reaching the final in 2020, will begin its next campaign under the strengthened coaching setup.
