Zeeshan Siddique set to be NCP’s youngest Mumbai president

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) plans to appoint Zeeshan Siddique as its Mumbai unit president, making the 33-year-old the party's youngest Mumbai chief. The move is part of an organisational revamp and comes three months after Siddique was elected as an MLC, following his defeat in the November 2024 assembly elections from Vandre East.

Separately, Siddique has reported a death threat to Bandra police. He said a caller from a Portugal-based number claimed to be 'Zeeshan Akhtar' and threatened to kill him, alleging Siddique was involved in illegal business. Akhtar is an accused in the murder of Siddique's father, former minister Baba Siddique, who was killed in 2024. Police have registered a non-cognisable complaint.

NCP insiders say the appointments of Siddique, Vaishali Nagawade, Nikhil Thakare, and Nirmala Nawale indicate that party president Sunetra Pawar and her son Parth Pawar are taking control of the organisation. The party hopes Siddique's appointment will help revive its presence in Mumbai, where it has struggled for three decades.
