Anurag Kashyap on marriage with Shubhra Shetty: ‘I don’t want to lose this’

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has said marriage is not on the cards with his partner Shubhra Shetty because she does not believe in it, but stressed he is happy in the relationship. Speaking to Janice Sequeira, Kashyap said he wants to be with Shetty above all else. 'I'm very happy to be with her. I want to be with her. So, whatever that takes…. As long as we have found what we have found now, I'm happy with anything. I don't want to lose this,' he said.

The couple has been together for nearly a decade. Kashyap, 53, admitted to being conscious about their 20-year age gap. He said there was a point when he tried to push the relationship away because of scrutiny. Shetty, who is in her 30s, recalled telling Kashyap early on that falling in love was on her bucket list and she could die happy after experiencing it. Kashyap became emotional and said she gave him something to live for, a feeling he had never had before.

Shetty previously worked as an assistant director at Kashyap's production company, Phantom Films. The couple was first photographed together in 2015 and reportedly confirmed their relationship in 2018. Kashyap was previously married to editor Aarti Bajaj and later to actor Kalki Koechlin.
