Andhra Pradesh forms panel for 2026 State Teachers’ Awards

The Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a state-level committee to select teachers for the 2026 State Teachers' Awards. School education department secretary Kona Sasidhar issued GO Rt No 129 on Thursday, forming the panel following a proposal by the director of school education.

The committee will be chaired by HRD minister Nara Lokesh. The secretary to the school education department will be vice-chairman, and the director of school education will serve as convener. Other members include the director of AP State Council of Educational Research and Training and educationist Ramu Surya Rao.

Separately, speaking in the state assembly on August 17, Lokesh said the government will conduct teacher recruitment every year as promised in the NDA manifesto. He said 3,000 teacher posts have been filled through DSC this year under the Mega Job Calendar, with 10,060 posts filled overall. The government aims to complete onboarding of all selected teachers before Ugadi.
