Batwara 1947 jumps 134% as Awarapan 2 eyes Rs 100 crore

Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947 and Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2, both released on August 14, have revived a 19-year-old box office rivalry. In 2007, Deol's Apne clashed with Hashmi's Awarapan. DNA India reports that Batwara 1947 saw a 134 percent jump in collections on day two, while Awarapan 2 is racing toward the Rs 100 crore mark.

Pinkvilla said the clash reverses a 2007 box office story. The two actors are competing again in the same release window. Early trends show Batwara 1947 gaining momentum after a slower start, while Awarapan 2 is on a strong trajectory toward the century.

Both films continue to run in theatres. The next few days will determine whether either crosses the Rs 100 crore milestone first.
