BJP chief Nabin confident of third straight term in UP 2027

BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday expressed confidence that the party would win a third consecutive term in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections with a massive majority. He was wrapping up a two-day visit to western UP, his first since becoming party chief, during which he held meetings with office-bearers and visited a Ravidas temple and a Dalit worker's home in Saharanpur.

Nabin said the enthusiasm of workers and the public on the streets reflected support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He cited expressways and semiconductor manufacturing as signs of a "new UP" that had moved past its mafia reputation. The Hindu reported that opposition MPs Iqra Hasan (SP) and Imran Masood (Congress) each claimed only their own leader could defeat the BJP, underlining pre-poll alliance tensions. The party is now focused on booth-level preparations ahead of the 2027 polls.
