BSNL will expand its 4G network and FTTH services in the Dharwad Telecom Circle, Senior General Manager Dhananjaykumar Tripathi said on Saturday. The state-run telco has installed 65 new 4G saturation towers in the Hubballi Business Area in 2025-26 and 422 base transceiver stations under Phase 9.2 to boost data speed and capacity.
Mr. Tripathi said BSNL plans to add 14 more saturation sites and survey 47 villages for 4G coverage in 2026-27, along with 123 new base transceiver stations. The company aims to add 40,000 new gross mobile connections during the year and 14,000 new FTTH connections. BSNL is offering free Wi-Fi modems and ONTs to broadband customers with warranty support of two to two-and-a-half years, and has waived installation charges for new FTTH connections until September 30, 2026.
The telco is also running Independence Day promotions, offering SIM cards for Rs 1 and Rs 51 under separate schemes. The Rs 1 plan provides 1 GB of daily data, 100 SMS and unlimited voice calls for 24 days, while the Rs 51 plan offers 2 GB daily data, 100 SMS and unlimited calls for 28 days. Customers can also book connections and register complaints via toll-free number 1800-4444 or WhatsApp.
