Chhattisgarh launches ‘Meri Beti-Mera Abhiman’ campaign for girls’ toilets in schools

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday launched the statewide 'Meri Beti, Mera Abhiman' campaign under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) scheme. As part of the campaign, 6,671 girls' toilets will be constructed in all government schools in rural areas at a cost of Rs 286.85 crore, and 6,524 cremation grounds with waiting sheds will be developed in every village at a cost of Rs 391.44 crore. Additionally, 10,027 closed or defunct borewells will be fitted with sand filters and recharge structures at a cost of Rs 52.14 crore. Timesnownews.com reports that the scheme, effective from July 1, 2026, includes 318 categories of development works across water conservation, rural infrastructure, livelihood promotion, and climate adaptation. The state has already spent Rs 1,264 crore in the first quarter of 2026-27, and the government claims Chhattisgarh leads nationally with 98% e-KYC worker completion and 99% geo-tagging of assets. The chief minister said every work will be approved by Gram Sabha and monitored digitally.
