Delhi father arrested for sexually assaulting 12-year-old daughter

A 12-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her father in northeast Delhi, police said. The mother filed a complaint after the child confided in her. Police recorded the girl's statement, arrested the father, and he allegedly confessed to the crime.

The girl underwent a medical examination, and the local child welfare committee was informed. A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Times of India reports similar cases in Delhi this year: a man accused of assaulting his 13-year-old daughter in July, and a 14-year-old who filed a complaint against her father for repeated assaults over two weeks.

The father remains in custody. The next steps in the case have not been announced.
