Delhi rain brings temperature drop, IMD yellow alert

Delhi received light rain on Saturday, bringing the maximum temperature down to 29.2 degrees Celsius, 5.1 degrees below normal and 3.8 degrees lower than Friday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for the capital. The minimum temperature at Safdarjung was 23.2 degrees Celsius, 0.7 degree below normal. Safdarjung recorded 0.2 mm of rain, while Lodhi Road recorded 0.5 mm between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

The IMD has forecast a maximum of 30-32 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 21-23 degrees Celsius for Sunday. Delhi's air quality remained in the satisfactory category, with a 24-hour average AQI of 72 at 4 pm, down from 78 on Friday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

Separately, heavy rain hit Uttarakhand, prompting authorities to suspend the Char Dham Yatra until September 27. A red alert was issued for several districts. Schools up to Class 12 were closed in five districts. No casualties or major damage have been reported.
