Delhi govt to roll out drone, semiconductor policies by September-end

The Delhi government plans to implement its drone and semiconductor policies by the end of September or mid-October, officials said on Saturday. The draft policies will soon be sent to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for approval. Hindustan Times reports that after approval, the policies will be opened for public feedback, then presented to the Cabinet and sent to the Lieutenant Governor.

The Drone Policy aims to promote drone use and create a dedicated ecosystem in Delhi. The government will request land from the Delhi Development Authority in Narela for a drone hub, officials said. The Semiconductor Policy focuses on five pillars: design and intellectual property, research and innovation, manufacturing activities like Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging, ancillary industries, and talent development.

Officials said the policies are part of a larger push to attract technology investments and create jobs in the Capital. The specific incentives and benefits under the two policies will become clear once the drafts are approved.
