Disney D23 reveals Simpsons sequel, Lilo and Stitch 2, new series

Disney's D23 fan convention has unveiled a slate of new projects, including a sequel to the 2008 Simpsons Movie titled The New Simpsons Movie, set for theatrical release in September 2027. Cinemaexpress reports that the film will feature Homer Simpson causing chaos at a baseball game. A live-action Lilo and Stitch sequel, Lilo and Stitch 2, has been announced for May 28, 2028, and will introduce Angel, Stitch's love interest.

An anime series based on the Kingdom Hearts video game, titled Kingdom Hearts – The Series, is in development. Jon Favreau is developing a three-part animated miniseries called Oswald, featuring a rabbit protagonist, due in February 2027. The official trailer for the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on The Titan's Curse, was also released. Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins have joined the voice cast of the animated fantasy film Hexed, which opens on November 25 alongside an animated Lilo and Scratch short.
