Chakan infrastructure issues serious, says Maharashtra CM Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday acknowledged serious infrastructure problems in Pune's Chakan industrial area and said the government is working to resolve them. Telangana Today reports Fadnavis plans to make the district collector responsible for coordinating multiple agencies to tackle traffic congestion and poor facilities. He added that Maharashtra has the highest number of functional firms in the country.

The admission follows at least 20 companies threatening to relocate from the automobile hub to Khandala in Satara district. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar had called the situation serious, urging war-footing infrastructure upgrades. Industries Minister Uday Samant denied any migration, saying he would meet industry representatives on August 16 to address 90 per cent of their issues, as per Telangana Today. Deccan Herald adds that the Chakan Industries Federation flagged problems including multiple regulatory bodies.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray visited Chakan and accused the government of corruption and departmental chaos, warning of potential job losses. NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar also met industrialists and blamed the government for inattention. Samant urged that the issue not be politicised. Fadnavis said he had provided correct information to Pawar to counter any misinformation.
