Gurgaon’s Rs 11.8 crore road floods again, residents seek answers

Gurgaon's annual monsoon road damage has returned, with key stretches such as MG Road, Ghata Road and the Sector 102-102A road flooding despite a Rs 11.8 crore redevelopment last year. The Times of India reports that the cycle of repairing surfaces without fixing underlying drainage has left corridors like Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road in poor condition, forcing vehicles to slow down and change lanes. Water trapped on roads, the report notes, weakens underlying layers and turns minor flaws into potholes.

In Sector 70A, Hindustan Times reports that a stormwater drainage excavation has blocked the main 24-metre road for over four months, affecting more than 5,000 families. Residents say the alternative revenue road is narrow, waterlogged and congested, with an exposed pit posing a safety risk. A GMDA official said the drainage work is almost complete but was halted during the monsoon and will resume in September, and a team will visit to check the open pit.
