Mob violence is never acceptable, whoever the target is. But this attack on a man labelled an 'anti-Khalistani terrorist' will feed two dangerous narratives: one, that the state cannot protect those it brands as enemies, and the other, that any target can be beaten with impunity if the crowd is angry enough. The real test is whether the police will name and arrest the attackers, or let the incident slide as a 'law and order failure'.
