Iran president congratulates Modi on I-Day, seeks deeper ties

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on India's 80th Independence Day and expressed Tehran's readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation. In a message delivered through the Iranian embassy, Pezeshkian described the historical, cultural and civilizational links between the two nations as a valuable asset for building a stronger future together.

Times of India reports that Pezeshkian, in a statement on his official website, said the longstanding ties could help draw brighter horizons in bilateral relations based on common interests. India Today adds that the Iranian president reaffirmed Tehran's determination to strengthen its comprehensive relationship and take more effective steps to advance shared goals in an atmosphere of mutual trust.

Pezeshkian was among several leaders greeting India. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, French President Emmanuel Macron and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu also extended wishes, according to Times of India citing ANI.
