Iran President Pezeshkian greets Modi on I-Day, seeks deeper ties

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on India’s 80th Independence Day, expressing Tehran’s readiness to deepen and expand bilateral relations. In a message delivered through the Iranian embassy in New Delhi, Pezeshkian described the occasion as an opportunity to strengthen the longstanding and comprehensive ties between the two nations.

Pezeshkian highlighted the deep historical, cultural and civilisational links between Iran and India, as well as people-to-people connections, calling them a valuable foundation for expanding cooperation based on shared interests. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to consolidating the relationship and said Tehran was prepared to take more effective steps in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.

The Iranian president wished for India’s prosperity, progress and happiness, and prayed for the further strengthening of the ties between the two countries.
