IUST, CUK VCs hoist flag on 80th Independence Day

Vice-Chancellors of two Kashmir universities hoisted the National Flag on Saturday to mark the 80th Independence Day. Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) led the ceremony in Awantipora. Prof. A. RavinderNath of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) did so at the Tulmulla Campus in Ganderbal. Both events, reported by Greater Kashmir, included marchers, staff and students.

In his address, Prof. Romshoo said India’s transformation into a global power must be driven by youth who become partners in innovation, entrepreneurship and governance. He linked the university’s work under NEP 2020 to the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal. Prof. RavinderNath stressed the significance of 150 years of Vande Mataram and the theme of Yuva Shakti. He called on students to develop personal, analytical and social skills to counter misinformation and build a transparent society. Both VCs emphasised that higher education must prepare students for life beyond jobs.
