IUST, CUK, Hindu College celebrate 80th Independence Day

Vice Chancellor Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo hoisted the national flag at Islamic University of Science and Technology on August 15, the 80th Independence Day. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted India’s global rise through science, technology, and innovation, and urged universities to empower youth as partners in innovation and governance. He linked the event to the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and cited IUST’s progress in start-ups and skill development under NEP 2020.

At Central University of Kashmir, Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. RavinderNath hoisted the tricolour at the Tulmulla campus. He noted the significance of the year being the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram and the Yuva Shakti theme. He stressed life-coping skills, including personal, analytical and social skills, and said higher education must prepare students for life beyond academics. He also warned against misinformation and called for a corruption-free society.

Hindu College, Delhi University, celebrated the day with a flag-hoisting ceremony, a collective pledge for Nasha Mukt Bharat, and a Tiranga Rally. On the eve of the event, teachers and NSS volunteers attended a Partition Horrors Remembrance Day commemoration at Delhi University, with Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan as chief guest and Prof. Raghuvendra Tanwar delivering the keynote.
