Job card mela held across Shirahatti taluk under VB-G RAM G Act

A special awareness campaign and job card melas are being held across Shirahatti taluk in Gadag district from August 15 to September 15 under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act. The scheme aims to create employment opportunities for rural households in their own villages. As part of the campaign, job card melas were held at Kadakol, Rantur, and Majjur villages on Thursday, where Panchayat Development Officers sensitised the public about the scheme.

Under the Information, Education and Communication activities, officials are visiting rural households to identify families needing new job cards, facilitate renewal of existing cards, and complete e-KYC formalities, besides receiving employment applications. Officials said efforts are also being made to digitise worker attendance, monitor work progress, and maintain records. The campaign aims to ensure employment reaches eligible families at their doorstep and reduce migration from rural to urban areas.

Information Education Coordinator Veeresh said families with inactive job cards are being identified and contacted through door-to-door visits. Priority will be given to work related to water conservation, groundwater recharge, and activities that provide long-term livelihood support and help communities deal with drought conditions. Residents seeking information have been advised to contact their gram panchayat offices.
