Two murders in Mumbai: man kills wife, another kills mother

Two separate murders occurred in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai on Sunday, with police arresting the accused in both cases. In Kurar, Malad East, Akash Salunke was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife Suchita on Sunday, following frequent fights over his suspicion of her fidelity. Akash initially took her to a hospital claiming she was injured but fled; an autopsy confirmed homicide.

In Vashi, Navi Mumbai, Mahesh Ratnakar Kadam was arrested for killing his 65-year-old widowed mother Nanda Ratnakar Kadam by strangling her and banging her head on the floor. Police said the argument escalated because his mother opposed his staying with his estranged wife. A neighbour alerted police, who detained Kadam. The victim was declared brought dead at NMMC Hospital.

Both accused were produced in court on Monday. Akash is a daily wager and alcoholic; the couple has a four-year-old son. Mahesh works as housekeeping staff at Mindspace IT Park. The Belapur JMFC court remanded Mahesh to police custody. Kurar Police registered a murder case against Akash.
