Manish Malhotra celebrates handloom with Athiya Shetty and Janhvi Kapoor

Fashion designer Manish Malhotra showcased a handloom Bandhani saree on actress Athiya Shetty in an Instagram post on August 16. Telangana Today reports Malhotra said handloom, Bandhani and sarees have been central to his work for decades, adding that tradition means making it personal and relevant.

Earlier, on July 31, Malhotra posted pictures of Janhvi Kapoor in a predraped Kanchipuram weave brocade saree. The Hans India reports he recalled working with her mother Sridevi on a Malayalam film in the early 1990s, which deepened his admiration for handloom textiles. He wrote that Kapoor carries her mother's legacy.

Malhotra has long incorporated weaves such as Kanchipuram, Paithani and Bandhani into his collections and film costumes. His collaborations with weavers and artisans aim to preserve traditional craftsmanship while giving it a modern appeal.
