Odisha aims 20 lakh jobs, Goa targets 8,000

On India's 80th Independence Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced a target of creating 20 lakh jobs over five years, with at least 3 lakh expected in the next one to two years. He emphasised skill development programmes to match changing job market requirements. In Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the state would create 6,000 to 8,000 additional jobs in the next six months.

Majhi also removed the six-attempt limit for the Odisha Civil Services examination and raised the upper age limit for government jobs to 42 years. Sawant said the Porvorim elevated corridor would open before Ganesh Chaturthi and the foundation stone for a new Borim bridge would be laid soon. He noted that Goa's traditional theatre form Tiatr has been recognised as the 56th element in India's Intangible Cultural Heritage inventory. The chief ministers' announcements underline state-level efforts to boost employment and development.
