Olectra plans 10,000-unit bus, truck capacity in 2-3 years

Olectra Greentech aims to set up a manufacturing capacity of 10,000 electric buses and trucks annually over the next two to three years, managing director Mahesh Babu told auto.economictimes.indiatimes.com. The company expects India's electric bus market to reach about 20,000 vehicles a year in that period and wants to capture a significant portion of that demand.

The planned expansion comes as the government pushes for electric mobility in public transport. Olectra, which already supplies electric buses to state transport corporations, is betting on rising orders from cities and private fleet operators.

Babu said the company will invest in new production lines and technology to ramp up output. Olectra aims to become a major domestic player in the segment as fleet owners shift to cleaner vehicles.
