Part Timers Review: A Tolerable, Silly Sitcom

JioHotstar's new Telugu sitcom Part Timers, directed by Sampath Kumar Thota, is a silly but tolerable watch. The show follows Teju, a rich businessman's daughter who drives a cab for a living, and Sindhu, a corporate employee fleeing her conservative uncle's home. The two contrasting 20-something women become roommates and navigate their conflicting lifestyles and the judgment of nosy neighbours.

The performances from Gnaneswari Kandregula and Thanuja Puttaswamy are decent but not exceptional. The show draws humour from the clash between Teju's haphazard, rebellious nature and Sindhu's responsible, ambitious personality. While the premise of opposites colliding is entertaining, the execution is often exaggerated and silly, particularly in Teju's track. A few one-liners and dialogues provide genuine laughs, but some jokes fall flat, and one party joke about women being treated as property is distasteful.
