Prithviraj, Vijay films among new OTT releases this week
The Story in Brief
Four notable films are arriving on streaming platforms this week, offering a mix of horror, social drama and action. The supernatural thriller 'Aroopi', directed by Abhilash Warrier, debuts on ManoramaMAX from August 21. It stars Vysakh Ravi, Neha Chawla and Sakshi Badala.
Manoj Kana's 'Amoeba', based on the Endosulfan tragedy in Kasaragod, begins streaming on ManoramaMAX from August 22. The cast includes Anumol, Aneesh G. Menon and Indrans. On August 25, two major films arrive: 'I, Nobody' on Disney+ Hotstar, directed by Nissam Basheer and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Parvathy Thiruvothu, and the Tamil film 'Jananayagan' on JioHotstar, featuring Vijay in what is described as his final acting venture before entering politics.
Indian Opinion Analysis
The OTT release of 'Jananayagan' gives Vijay's fans their last chance to see him on screen before he contests elections. The Endosulfan tragedy, which devastated Kasaragod in the 1990s, remains a sensitive issue in Kerala, and 'Amoeba' brings it back into public discourse. ManoramaMAX is releasing two Malayalam films this week, signalling the platform's push for original content. The next date to watch is August 25, when 'I, Nobody' and 'Jananayagan' drop.
