Rahul Gandhi to hold Chhatron ki Goonj in Pune on August 22

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday announced the next edition of his 'Chhatron ki Goonj' event in Pune on August 22, which will be exclusively for girl students. Gandhi urged young people to join the movement, saying girls need equality, safety and opportunities but have instead faced insecurity and discrimination. The first two events were held in Kota and Dehradun, thefederal.com reported.

The announcement follows Gandhi's interaction with students who protested alleged paper leaks and faced police action. In a social media post, Gandhi praised the students' courage, particularly the girls who he said were subjected to misbehaviour and violence by 'BJP goons', according to newindianexpress.com. The interaction took place earlier in August and included a video where Gandhi said the students' voices cannot be silenced.

Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said the girls would now speak and the country would listen. The event in Pune is scheduled for August 22 and will focus on hearing the concerns of female students.
