Ravi Teja criticised for ‘muduru munda’ remark to child actor

Tollywood star Ravi Teja has faced criticism after a video from a promotional event for his upcoming film *Irumudi* showed him addressing child artist Baby Nakshathra with the Telugu expression 'muduru munda'. The actor's comment, which followed laughter from him and those around him, has sparked a debate on social media about whether such language was appropriate directed at a child during a public event. Nakshathra, who plays his daughter in the film, said she did not understand the expression, and Ravi Teja reportedly told her he would explain it later.

Odisha TV reports that while some users called the remark 'completely unwanted', others argued the phrase may have been used casually without intent to offend. The outlet notes that 'munda' is generally derogatory when used for a woman, and 'muduru' can mean mature or intense depending on context, making the phrase potentially offensive in some interpretations. Separate from the controversy, *Irumudi*, directed by Shiva Nirvana with music by GV Prakash Kumar, is set for release on August 21.
