RSS affiliate BKS to hold first women farmer conclave in Delhi

The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), the farmer wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, will hold its first All India Women Farmer Workers Conclave at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on September 30, 2026. Around 7,000 women farmers and office-bearers from across the country are expected to attend, the BKS said at a press conference.

BKS national general secretary Mohini Mohan Mishra said women perform 60 to 80 percent of agricultural tasks but are underrepresented in policymaking. The event will honour selected women farmers for work in cow-based organic farming, seed conservation, animal husbandry, and food processing. The BKS also used the platform to call for replacing the Minimum Support Price with a system that ensures farmers receive the Maximum Retail Price for their produce, and proposed a 10-15 day cooling-off period when crop prices rise sharply.

The conclave is being held in the context of the United Nations designating 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer. BKS all-India women's coordinator Manju Dixit said the event aims to establish the identity and prestige of women as farmers and highlight the challenges they face.
