Tamil Nadu to begin AYUSH, BNYS counselling on Sept 3

Tamil Nadu will begin counselling for undergraduate AYUSH and BNYS courses on September 3, with 2,224 AYUSH seats and 2,036 BNYS seats available across government and self-financing colleges. Health Minister K G Arunraj released the rank list on Friday for BSMS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, and BNYS admissions for the 2026-27 academic year. Of the 11,850 applications received, 10,849 were found eligible, including 906 of the 1,077 applicants under the 7.5 per cent government school quota.

Under the government school quota, Pa Thamilaruvi of Nagapattinam, who scored 516 in NEET, secured the first rank. In the government quota, P Kranthik of Namakkal topped the list, followed by K Thiyagaraj of Tiruvallur. Counselling will be held in three regular rounds, followed by a stray vacancy round. The minister also said the state is formulating a 'positive health policy' focused on disease prevention through traditional lifestyles, yoga, and nutrition.
