Telangana HC orders timely elections for fisheries societies

The Telangana High Court has directed the state government to avoid any delay in holding elections for the remaining primary and district-level fisheries cooperative societies. Justice Surepalli Nanda ordered the authorities to complete the process and form democratic governing bodies within three weeks.

The order came on a petition by Sadhu Raghu of Mulugu district and others, who complained that officials had not acted on their requests to conduct elections. Counsel D.L. Pandu, appearing for the petitioners, told the court that an earlier directive to follow the tentative schedule had not been implemented. The court now asked officials to consider the representations and take a decision in three weeks.
