Ludhiana tempo driver arrested after 2-year-old girl run over

A two-year-old girl was killed after a speeding tempo ran over her outside a steel factory in Ludhiana on Wednesday afternoon. The girl, Mannat Parveen, was at the factory with her mother Lovely Begum, who works there making bicycle seats. The child was playing inside when she ran onto the road. The police said CCTV footage shows her stepping out, returning inside, and then running towards the road again.

Family members rushed the girl to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The body was handed over after postmortem, and last rites were performed. Based on a complaint by the girl's father, the police registered an FIR and arrested the tempo driver, Vikram Shah, a resident of Sunder Nagar. ASI Ranbir Singh said officials were examining the CCTV footage and other evidence.
