Juvenile held for abetting girlfriend’s suicide in Navi Mumbai

Vashi GRP has detained a 17-year-old boy for abetting the suicide of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Priyanka Mithu Ram, who jumped from a moving local train on August 1. The Times of India reports that Priyanka, a sales girl at an agritech store in Ghansoli, sent her mother a voice message saying she 'cannot survive without him' before jumping near Vashi creek bridge.

The accused juvenile, who worked in Kalyan, allegedly refused to marry Priyanka and threatened her by sending semi-nude video screenshots. He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board at Bhiwandi and sent to a shelter home. Police have seized his mobile and plan to retrieve deleted images through forensic analysis.

In a separate case, Dombivli GRP is investigating the suspected suicide of a 17-year-old girl who died after being hit by a train on August 2. The Times of India reports that a post-mortem revealed she was three months pregnant. Police arrested Raj Pakad, a delivery executive she met on Instagram, who was remanded in police custody until August 20. The probe is ongoing.
