Andhra Pradesh sends 29 award-winning teachers to Finland

Andhra Pradesh has sent 29 State Best Teacher Award recipients from government schools to Finland for an eight-day professional development programme starting August 17. The initiative, in collaboration with the University of Turku, will take the teachers to Turku and Rauma for classroom observations, site visits and interactions at early childhood education centres and teacher training schools, sources report.

The programme focuses on foundational learning, digital tools, leadership and mentoring skills, and student well-being. Teachers will develop school-based projects based on Finnish practices and implement them in Andhra Pradesh schools. They will also serve as mentors for other teachers at district and mandal levels.

Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh said teachers shape students and the state's future. The government will conduct impact assessments to evaluate improvements in student engagement and learning outcomes, according to the sources.
