Bangladesh stun Australia with historic nine-wicket Test win in Darwin

Bangladesh registered their first Test victory on Australian soil on Sunday, routing the top-ranked hosts by nine wickets in Darwin inside four days. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto called it the biggest win in the country's cricketing history across formats.

Fast bowler Hasan Mahmud, named Player of the Match, took nine wickets for the match including 6 for 55 in Australia's first innings of 198. Bangladesh replied with 426, driven by Tanzid Hasan's century and Shanto's 84. Mehidy Hasan Miraz then claimed 5 for 66 to bowl Australia out for 284, setting a target of 57 which Bangladesh chased in 14.2 overs.

Australian greats Ricky Ponting and Mark Waugh described the result as embarrassing and the biggest upset in Australian cricket history. NDTV Profit reported that captain Pat Cummins refused to blame preparations, instead crediting Bangladesh. Cummins indicated changes were possible for the second Test starting August 22 in Mackay. The win lifted Bangladesh above India to fourth in the World Test Championship standings.
