Cody Rhodes to face Randy Orton at Saturday Night’s Main Event

WWE has confirmed the first match for the September 6th Saturday Night's Main Event, with Cody Rhodes scheduled to face his former teammate Randy Orton in a one-on-one bout. Timesnownews.com reports the rivalry between the former Legacy members began after Orton won the Elimination Chamber match and originally targeted Drew McIntyre, but Cody defeated McIntyre to claim the WWE Championship. Orton turned heel before Wrestlemania 42, where Cody retained the title in the main event of night one, though Orton ended the show with the belt in his hand after punt-kicking the champion.

Orton took a break after Wrestlemania and returned at SummerSlam, attacking Cody during his match against CM Punk and costing him the title. Cody is no longer champion: he lost the championship to Sami Zayn at Night of Champions, though Sami held it for only nine days. Cody was slated to challenge Zayn but was replaced by CM Punk, who won the title in July and has retained it since. The outlet notes their feud is not expected to end at the Saturday Night's Main Event.
