Six firms correct misleading labels after FSSAI crackdown

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) said six food business operators have taken corrective action after receiving notices for misleading labels and trademarks. Livyor Ventures Pvt Ltd withdrew 'vegan' and 'healthy' claims from its Roasted Edamame Beans, blaming a lack of regulatory awareness. Honest Innovations For You Pvt Ltd and Heliostone Specialities Pvt Ltd changed their trademarks, while Rajasthan Agro and General Industries removed all misleading claims and stopped using PPM references.

Iota Nanotechnology Pvt Ltd removed misleading claims and halted production of non-standardised water. Panchamurtha Industries Pvt Ltd delisted its electrolyte drink from its website. The Economic Times reports that FSSAI has been running a wider enforcement drive under the 2020 Labelling and Display Regulations, which ban false or misleading labels. Earlier this year, the regulator sent notices to companies including The Whole Truth and Marico's Saffola range over terms such as 'healthy' and 'organic'.
