વીજ મંત્રાલયે રાજ્યોને સ્માર્ટ મીટર સ્થાપન ઝડપી બનાવવા સૂચના આપી છે, કહ્યું કે આ ફરજિયાત રોલઆઉટ પ્રીપેડ કે પોસ્ટપેડ બિલિંગ સાથે સંબંધિત નથી. જુલાઈ 2021થી RDSS હેઠળ મંજૂર કરાયેલા 20.3 કરોડ મીટરમાંથી 30 જૂન સુધી ફક્ત 5.7 કરોડ જ સ્થાપિત થયા છે, જોકે કુલ કાર્યરત મીટર 7 કરોડથી વધુ છે.
