Mass shootings in US leave multiple dead, dozens wounded

A weekend of mass shootings across the United States has left at least three people dead and more than a dozen wounded, with incidents reported in Connecticut, Kentucky, Illinois and Virginia. The latest shooting occurred early Sunday at the SoulBaila nightclub in Hartford, Connecticut, where one person was killed and four others wounded. Police responding to the scene found a crowd of about 100 people, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his 30s remains in critical condition. No arrests have been reported.

Hours earlier, a shooting in Lexington, Kentucky, killed one person and wounded four others, including a four-year-old child and a 14-year-old, near a downtown bar district. In Chicago, four people were wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Gresham neighbourhood, two victims are critically injured. The weekend violence followed a shooting at Virginia State University on Saturday that injured five people, including one student. Police arrested a suspect, Camron Harris, who is not a student at the university. Authorities say four of the five victims were also not students.
