Mumbai’s first Maha-Aagman Sohala showcases towering Bappa idols

Mumbai witnessed its first Maha-Aagman Sohala of the year on Saturday, August 15, according to freepressjournal.in. Thousands gathered in the Lalbaug-Parel area to welcome the Ganesh idols ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi. The arrival celebrations turned the area into a sea of devotees eager to catch the first glimpse of Bappa.

Among the striking idols were Slater Road Cha Raja with Riddhi and Siddhi, and Marolcha Vighnaharta balancing on one leg with Lord Vishnu's Varaha avatar in the backdrop. Shivdi Cha Raja arrived on a Dwarka-themed throne with the Tricolour, while Mumbaicha Lambodar appeared in a unique Trishund avatar with three trunks. Khetwadicha Vighnaharta, one of the tallest, required transport from the opposite side due to its height. Dharavicha Sukhakarta featured a white idol with a distinctive elephant-like head.

The first Maha-Aagman Sohala set the tone for Ganeshotsav 2026, with the festive energy already taking over the city.
