Premalu Hindi version removed from JioHotstar ahead of remake

The Hindi-dubbed version of the Malayalam blockbuster Premalu has been taken down from JioHotstar, according to 123telugu.com. The removal is believed to be a strategic move by the makers ahead of the release of the official Hindi remake, Prem Keetanu, which is scheduled for October 2, 2026.

The teaser for Prem Keetanu, released on September 2, has drawn criticism online. 123telugu.com reports that viewers say the remake has lost the charm and essence of the original, with changes in characters and scenes drawing negative comparisons. The film stars Veer Pahariya and Aafiya Sayed and is directed by Apoorv Singh Karki.

Adding to the challenge, m9.news reports that Prem Keetanu will clash at the box office with Drishyam 3, the Ajay Devgn-starrer that has already locked the same release date. Trade experts cited by m9.news suggest the remake could survive only if its budget is very low and its music makes an impact. The makers have not announced any change of date.
