Sunny Deol says he was happy even with Rs 56 crore debt

Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has revealed he remained content despite being over Rs 59 crore in debt. In a podcast interview with Shubhankar Mishra, he said the financial burden came from his own production and directorial ventures, not from borrowing from others.

The Times of India reports Deol said: 'The money I owed was all mine. I didn't borrow it from anyone. I just had to sell my own assets and pay back.' He added: 'I can't do so many things for money. Even when I was in debt, I was very happy.'

The debt stemmed from films such as Ghayal Returns (2016), Dillagi (1999), and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2019), which did not succeed commercially. In 2023, a bank issued an e-auction notice for his Juhu property over dues of Rs 55.99 crore, which was withdrawn after he settled. Deol's career revived with Gadar 2 (2023).
